1. What is e-design or virtual interior design?
Virtual interior design or e-design is a service that offers you interior design services entirely online (via email and phone or video calls) all from the comfort of your own home. By working with you in this way, we are able to save you thousands of dollars compared to traditional interior design services. What you receive will depend on the exact service package you choose, but typically you can expect us to send you things like 2D floor layouts, concept boards, 3D room renderings, paint color references and shopping lists with product links all sent to you via email.
2. How is HomeSmyle different than other online interior design companies?
HomeSmyle is not a huge company with tons and tons of designers looking to meet quotas and churning out designs that don’t fit your unique needs. We are smaller and offer more personalized attention to each and every project because we truly care about you, your needs and your budget. Another difference is that HomeSmyle includes 3D renderings of your space to help you see what your space will actually look like before you move forward with purchasing any furniture, paint or décor. Last but not least, we offer more package choices and add-ons so you can get as much or as little help as you need designing your space. 3. How do I know what my interior design style(s) are?
We can help you pick a design style. Go to “What’s Your Style” to see different interior design styles. Click on each style to see images specific to that style. Once you pick a style (or styles), take note of it so you can let us know what you like when you fill out the Design Questionnaire.
4. How do I measure a room, take pics of a room and make a video of a room to share with HomeSmyle for a project?
We like to help make this process as easy as possible so we have created "How To" pages for each of the above topics. You will need to do all of these things once you purchase your package(s). You will share measurements and room pics via the Design Questionnaire. After you submit the design questionnaire, you will create a video of your room and share by sending a link to our email address. 5. How long will it take to get my space e-designed?
You will receive your e-design package via email approximately one to three weeks from our receipt of all needed items (payment, design questionnaire, room sizes, photos, etc.). The exact timing depends on which package you choose and how many rounds of revisions are made. All digital boards will be emailed in a PDF downloadable and printable file.
6. Can you incorporate some of my existing furniture or décor into the new design?
Yes, we can absolutely utilize your existing items! Just make sure you list them and share pictures of those items when you fill out the design questionnaire.
7. What package do I purchase if I have an open floorplan where two rooms are combined?
Please select a two room package in this situation. We would work on the two spaces together because spaces that open into each other tend to feel like one single space. To truly best design these spaces, we will need to take into consideration everything your eye sees in a single view.
8. Will you make changes to my project if I don’t like something you’ve selected?
E-design room packages include one round of revisions for the concept board and also for the 2D room layout board. After that, you must purchase revision rounds separately at $125 per revision.
9. How do I purchase items recommended on my shopping list?
We try to make everything as hassle-free and easy as possible so the shopping list you receive includes buying links to the items for you to purchase.
10. What happens if I wait to purchase from my shopping list and then it’s no longer available?
We strongly suggest you wait to purchase and start the e-design process with us when you are ready to purchase items and implement your design plan. However, we know things happen to change plans so you can always look for similar items if the one we suggest is no longer available. If you don’t have to find replacement items, contact us and we should be able to help you find replacement options for a small fee.
11. Do you offer gift cards for purchase so I can give the gift of e-design services to someone?
Absolutely! Head to the Start A Project tab at the top of the website page. There you will find a list of packages to purchase and the option to purchase a HomeSmyle gift card for different denominations. HomeSmyle gift cards are great gifts for any occasion!
